Performance Marine Industry Expo Launches In Las Vegas

The Performance Marine Industry Expo April 3-6, 2008 at the Las Vegas Convention Center is the world's first exclusive performance marine show for industry professionals and consumers alike to make connections and buy from the best. The theme of Experience the Power, the Passion and the Performance sums up what is to be experienced at the new expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center and nearby Lake Mead, where consumers can see boats in action on the Poker Run, performance test boats they are buying and better yet run the boat they purchased at the show.

Performance Marine Industry Expo is the product of two parties coming together with immeasurable experience and dedication to the boating, performance and exhibition industries. ConvExx, producer of the internationally acclaimed SEMA show, featuring automotive performance industry equipment, has teamed up with Chris Ayres, who has over 20 years involvement in the performance marine industry representing manufacturers, and producing successful marine events throughout the country, including the Poker Run West series of events.

Featuring the latest in performance boats, engines, drives, marine hardware, tow vehicles and related items of interest to trade buyers and consumers alike, the Expo will feature one stop shopping at a single source for all performance boating desires. Race boats, poker run boats, performance pleasure boats and related performance equipment from world class companies will be on display and available for purchase. "Consumers will be able to meet representatives from leading marine manufacturers and purchase products directly from them. Pistons to power plants, the boats they power and everything related under one roof," stated Chris Ayres.

Sunday, April 6, Poker Run teams from across the country will hit the waters of Lake Mead for the PMI Champion's Cup Poker Run, for what promises to be the highest profile poker run of the year. Teams will all be in their pit area adjacent to the convention center as part of the show before their run on Sunday. Leading performance boating magazines will all be involved in the Performance Marine Industry Expo, using the opportunity to conduct product testing on nearby Lake Mead beginning Monday April 7.

An Advisory Council is forming, with several key members of the industry now on board. Bob Leach, president of Eliminator Power Boats, was quoted, "Glad to see there is finally a boat show and event dedicated to the Performance Marine Industry and run by guys who care about the future of the industry." Also on the board are Paul Rey, president of Ilmor Marine, Stu Jones, president of the Florida Powerboat Club, Larry Smith, creator of the Scarab, Keith Eickert, President of Kustom Engines, and Lu Lyall, Board Member of SCOPE. Additionally, the show?s advisory council includes Brian Davidson, publisher of Hot Boat Magazine, Casey Kiernan, publisher of Extreme Boats Magazine, and Victoria Newton, publisher of Powerboat Magazine. More members are coming and will be announced shortly.
