SNYDERSVILLE, N.Y. – TheHarley-Davidson dealership here has new owners and a new name.

The Poconos landmark business is now Pocono Mountain Harley-Davidson under new owners Linda and Jim Schlier. Among the changes, they moved the motorcycle engine parts to the main floor and put clothing and accessories upstairs.

The change went into effect Feb. 12, when Jim Schlier, who runs a towing company, and Linda, who operates a Candle Shoppe and “The Haunted” attraction next door, took ownership from Rose Schoch, who had run the business for 45 years.

"About a year ago, we got a call from Mrs. Schoch, who said she needed our help to save her business because we have business backgrounds and the economy was really tough on sales," Jim Schlier told the Pocono Record.  Linda became the chief operating officer and Jim chief financial officer of the company.

"Fifteen or 16 people counted on this place so people would not lose their jobs," Jim Schlier said. "Those people are still working here." And the Schliers say they're looking to hire more people who are Harley-Davidson certified.

The business has events scheduled, starting April 11 with a Men's Boot Camp and a Muscular Dystrophy Association benefit.

It’s a family business, with daughter Falon handling the motor clothes and son Jim overseeing the general merchandise.
