MEDINA, Minn. - Polaris’ 2014 snowmobile lineup includes seven new Indy models for trail riders, touring riders and off-trail explorers.

Indy, a legendary name in snowmobiling, returned to the Polaris lineup in 2013. For 2014, the 600 Indy and 600 Indy SP trail machines return with improvements and are joined by the following models:

  • 800 Indy SP for trail riders, powered by an 800 Liberty engine with Cleanfire injection
  • 600 Indy Voyager 144 and 550 Indy Voyager 144, two light-utility models suited for work and on- and off-trail riding
  • 550 Indy Adventure 144, a versatile model with a Adventure Cargo System and Lock & Ride Convertible Passenger Seat for two-up riding
  • 550 Indy LXT 144, a touring model with comfort features for high-mileage riders
  • 550 Indy and 550 Indy 144, both powered by Polaris’ 550 fan-cooled engine

The Indy family also includes the 120 Indy for young riders. It has a 120cc engine and several safety features that let supervising adults manage the sled’s performance.

The two new Indy Voyager models feature a large rear cargo rack, 144-inch tracks, high-flotation Gripper skis and narrow, adjustable RMK front suspension. These sleds ride on the Pro-Ride chassis and have RydeFX shocks. Both models have electric start, a new seat and a tall windshield. The 550 Indy Voyager 144 is powered by the Polaris fan-cooled twin, while the 600 Indy Voyager 144 has a Liberty 600 engine with Cleanfire injection.

The 550-powered Indy Adventure 144 sled is built on the Pro-Ride chassis and has Pro-Ride Independent Front Suspension (IFS) and Coil-Over Rear Suspension with RydeFX MPV shocks. The model features electric start, mirrors, and a tall windshield with side wind deflectors.

The 550 Indy LXT 144 features 144-inch tracks, the Pro-Ride chassis with Pro-Ride IFS and Indy 144 Rear Suspension. Polaris claims the he model is nearly 80 lbs. lighter than the IQ-chassis model it replaces. The Indy LXT provides a passenger with a fixed backrest and passenger hand grips. The model also has a tall windshield, a rear cargo rack, electric start and hood-mounted mirrors.

The 800 Indy SP joins the 600 Indy SP and 600 Indy to give riders an expanded choice of trail sleds. All three models are built on Pro-Ride chassis. The Indy SP models feature Fox Shox in the Pro-Ride IFS and Indy 121 Rear Suspension. The Indy SP ride and handling are further enhanced by Pro-Steer skis and a HackSaw track with 1-inch lugs. The 800 Indy SP has an 800 Cleanfire engine, while the 600 Indy SP and 600 Indy feature the 600 Cleanfire twin.

The 550 Indy and 550 Indy 144 feature the Pro-Ride IFS, Indy Rear Suspension, RydeFX MPV shocks and Pro-Steer skis. The 550 Indy has a Shockwave track, while the 550 Indy 144 delivers enhanced off-trail flotation with its Cobra track with 1.35-inch lugs. Both models have PERC Reverse and a new seat.

All Indy models powered by the 550 engine use the new CVTech Powerbloc 50 drive clutch paired with the Invance driven clutch. This clutching delivers smooth engagement, enhanced low-speed drivability and quieter operation. These clutches have a maintenance-free design and are easy to tune while installed on the sled, according to Polaris. (Continued.)
