Polaris Recalling 28,000 Snowmobiles

Polaris Industries is recalling 28,000 snowmobiles from 2004 to 2007 model years because of a fuel tank filler neck that can crack and separate and could be a fire hazard.

The company has received 1,048 complaints of the necks cracking or leaking, but no injuries have been reported.

The snowmobiles were sold from July 2003 through October of this year, for between $4,100 and $11,600. The range of models in the recall is broad. The federal Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has posted a chart detailing the affected years and models.

CPSC also advised consumers to immediately stop riding the vehicles and take them to dealers for new fuel systems.
