JOPLIN, Mo. – A week ago it looked as if Powersports of Joplin would close for good. But an offer from another dealer principal is keeping the doors open for now.
“I am still dealer in good standing with all of my OEMs, so I would like to keep the doors open for the OEMs, too,” said owner Garrett Paull. “The doors were opened last Saturday.”
The store, which closed Aug. 8, reopened Aug. 11. It was closed Sunday and Monday per regular operating hours, and will reopen for regular business Aug. 14.
An offer on the dealership awaits OEM approval, Paull confirmed. “Everyone is trying to do it as fast as we can,” he said. “Attorneys are involved and everyone is working diligently and rapidly to do things as quickly as we can.”
Providing the deal goes through, Paull expects that his dozen employees will keep their jobs. “That was one of my big concerns,” he said.
Paull hopes the deal will be finalized by early next week.
“I think this is going to be a win-win-win,” he said. “For me, the people that are purchasing it, the employees, the OEMs and the citizens.”
