The following comments were submitted by BMW franchised dealerships in the Q1 2014 Dealer Sentiment Index research study, produced by Baird Research and Dealernews.
- BMW is on fire! Five new models this year plus about 10 or 12 new models in the last three or four years create huge consumer interest in the BMW brand. Our BMW year-end sales were up over 30 percent last year, and I predict 25-30 percent growth again this year (as long as we can get the product…). And we make profit on BMWs, plus the BMW buyer usually buys about $1,000 in accessories with the bike purchase, plus they ride a lot and come back for service and riding gear.
- Can’t get enough of the product. We need when we need it.
- R1200GSW and R1200GS Adventure have been selling faster than we get them. All but a couple have been or are currently presold a month before they arrive in our dealership. This is a good thing – it creates urgency for the customer to purchase now – but if supply doesn’t improve soon, I fear losing sales because of the unavailability of bikes.
