The following comments were submitted by Polaris franchised dealerships in the Q1 2014 Dealer Sentiment Index research study, produced by Baird Research and Dealernews.

  • Sled sales keep getting better; the 2015 model year could see Polaris outsell Arctic Cat for sleds.
  • Polaris came out with huge rebate programs for March and April. They rebate amounts what they usually [do] at the "end of model year" clearance event. Maybe it was coincidence, but ATV sales jumped up for us, along with the Ranger. Sold one RZR.
  • Sled sales would have been better, but we ran out of most product.
  • RZR sales rising, ATVs steady, but SxS sales cutting into ATV sales somewhat.
  • Polaris sleds are too high; they had lofty order goals due to overall good snow. They were not sympathetic to our lack of snow [in our area].
  • We are a low-volume dealer, so when we have a jump in sales, then we are low on inventory. Just having one of each available model in each available color for both ATV and RZR would mean we would have 80 units on the lot. This is insane!
  • Always pushing inventory – too much emphasis makes we want to sell other brands.
  • An improvement in riding conditions could produce a real increase in demand. I feel like a farmer.
  • Many want more power for the ACE.
  • ACE is underpowered for the price.
  • The ATV/Ranger/RZR market is poised for another low profit/ROI year with current sales promotions encouraging discounting in the marketplace. Why would they continue to promote volume discounting on a product that is clearly the leader in the business? We are selling world-class vehicles at Walmart-mentality prices.
  • Polaris inventory is all over the place. We are dealer-trading more units this year than ever before.
  • The Axys will help the brand on the flat lands. We do need the new 800 engine in the mountain sled. The ACE has seen a slow start, but we believe that it is product that will carve out a new segment and actually bring new customers into off-road riding. That will take time to create.
  • ACE needs more powerful engine choices going forward.
  • The Ranger 570 and 570 Crew have been a home run! The Sportsman 570 has also done well. The RZR 570 and base model 800s have been a disappointment this year. The ACE has been well received. The RZR 1000 two-seater has done much better than the four-seater, but they are both great units.
