CARMEL, Calif. – The Quail Lodge and Golf Club has announced its 2013 lineup of motorsports events, organized by Peninsula Signature Events, a division of The Peninsula Hotels.
The events calendar start May 3 with the Quail Ride, a 100-mile motorcycle trip through the Monterey Peninsula. The daylong Quail Motorcycle Gathering follows May 4, with special guest and racing legend Wayne Rainey.
The Quail Motorcycle Gathering will celebrate its fifth anniversary by introducing the "Legends of the Sport" series, honoring one seminal figure in the sport each year. Wayne Rainey, a World Championship 500cc Grand Prix rider who has three consecutive World Championships to his name, will be recognized this year. Rainey won his titles in 1990, 1991 and 1992 while riding for Yamaha. Rainey also won two U.S. Superbike Championships in 1983 and 1987.
The Quail Marketplace, a for-sale-by-owner event, also will take place at the gathering for its second year in 2013. The marketplace offers guests an opportunity to purchase directly from other motorsports enthusiasts.
Participation in The Quail Motorcycle Gathering as an entrant is $120, and includes two tickets, gourmet lunch, and an event gift bag. Tickets to The Quail Motorcycle Gathering are $65 per person ($15 for children 12 and under), and include a gourmet barbecue lunch, offerings from local wineries and breweries and live music. Tickets are available at www.quaillodgetickets.com.
The Quail Lodge & Golf Club will reopen its hotel and unveil a $28 million resort-wide renovation March 26.
