ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – It’s been a little like musical chairs lately for R&S Powersports Group, but everything seems to have settled into place.

The group that runs R&S Yamaha, R&S Honda and a new supercenter R&S West closed a former store site and moved its service center into a 10,000 sq. ft. former restaurant/bar/pool hall next to its main showroom.

Dealer principal Rick Alcon told the Albuquerque Journal the changes opened new showroom space at the main site and positioned the company for economic recovery. “The fun in our industry never left,” he said. “We’re not really in the transportation business per se. Some people might use what we sell as their main means of transportation, but we’re in the recreation business and we sell fun every day.”

Alcon's daughter and son-in-law, Kristen and Galen Soden, both of whom have business degrees from the University of New Mexico, are “very involved in the business,” Alcon told reporters, which lets him do outreach like helping draft safety guidelines for OHVs and supporting the New Mexico Desert Racing Series and the Sandia Motorsports track in Moriarty.
