MORGAN HILL, Calif. - The new U.S. distributor of Austrian-made Racer gloves is looking to increase the company’s North American presence with a revamped website and an eye toward expanding its dealer network.

Since taking over as the exclusive North American importer and distributor of Racer Outdoor’s glove line earlier this year, former roadracer Lee Block and his company, Racer Gloves USA is seeking a broader audience for the product line.

The gloves were sold primarily in Northern California since around 2006 by a previous importer. Block says that during this time, the gloves developed an almost cult-like following among riders and dealers. “We want this relative secret to expand beyond Nor Cal and gain a national following,” he said.

The reason? According to Block the Racer line of gloves are “The best-fitting gloves you can buy.” As such, Block offers a money-back guarantee for consumers. For dealers, there is no minimum order and 41 percent margins available.

Block added that he maintains a strong MAP policy for online retailers. “That way, it’s a level playing field based purely on salesmanship,” he said. “Otherwise, it’s a spiral to the bottom. Here’s an area where I’m in control, and I want to make it fair for everybody.”

Racer’s glove line includes models for road racing, sport touring, adventure/dual-sport and winter riding, for men and women. There are about 16 models in the lineup (the Sicuro glove from the racing series is pictured here.)

“Creating a great fitting glove is not brain surgery, it’s harder! Design, materials, careful assembly of those materials, and above all else, pattern making result in a superior fitting glove,” Block said. “Racer has been making gloves in the same factories with the same pattern makers for more than 20 years."
