BRISBANE, Calif. - Ray Nowakowski, former long-time president and board member of the California Motorcycle Dealers Association, died June 26.

Nowakowski's fishing boat reportedly was discovered on the California Delta in San Joaquin County, unattended. "His body was recovered by a dive team. At this time, the cause of death has not been determined," said CMDA spokesman John Paliwoda at the time of the announcement.

Nowakowski was president of Golden Gate Cycles, a since-closed multiline dealership in San Francisco.

"The board of directors and staff of the CMDA extend their sincerest condolences to Ray's family," Paliwoda said.

A chapel service for Nowakowski will be held at 11 a.m. July 5 at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo, Calif., with a short reception to follow, CMDA reported. A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 6 at Mission Blue in Brisbane, Calif.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nowakowski's honor to B.E.S.T./PTO (P.O. Box 461, Brisbane CA 94005 Attn: Save Our School District), the California Motorcycle Dealers Association (P.O. Box 399, Lake Elsinore, CA 92531) or to the California Striped Bass Association (West Delta Chapter, P.O. Box 2691, Antioch, CA 94531).
