TORONTO, Ont. - Christian Auger of Champlain, Quebec, has died from injuries received during an Aug. 11 crash, according to an announcement issued by Frontline CSBK Inc., organizer of the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship.

The 34-year-old racer was competing in the Amateur Superbike event at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park when he was involved in a single-bike accident in turn eight on the opening lap. He was transported to a Toronto hospital with a serious head injury. The race was stopped and eventually canceled.

Auger was fifth in the Amateur Superbike point standings entering the race with top finishes of fifth at Autodrome St-Eustache and Atlantic Motorsport Park earlier this year, according to Frontline CSBK.

“Everyone involved with the series is saddened by this news and we extend our sympathies to Christian’s family and friends,” said Colin Fraser, series director of competition. “He was a valued member of our racing community and will be greatly missed.”
