Funeral services are today for Hall of Fame tuner Erwin “Smitty” Smith, a top race builder in the 1950s and 60s who is also credited with fueling the vintage movement.
Smith died March 6 at Heartland Health Care Center in Moline, Ill. He was 84.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. today at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Those wishing to attend should meet at 12:30 p.m. at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home in Rock Island.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.wheelanpressly.com.
