BEND, Ore. - The industry mourns the passing of Mark Pfenning, who was killed in a motorcycle crash July 15 in northeast Oregon. He was 57.
Pfenning was western regional manager for Triumph Motorcycles from 2005 to 2008, overseeing dealers, sales and even demo truck events in eight western states. From 2001 to 2004 he was sales manager of Avon Motorcycle Tyres North America. He also served as a field scout for Mad Maps for several years.
From 2011 until his retirement in February 2014 he was a business partner in Lassen Ale Works, a craft brewery in Susanville, Calif.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Pfenning's 2009 Buell was heading north on Highway 395 when it apparently lost control on a left-hand curve. The motorcycle slid on its side across the turnout on the shoulder and went down an embankment.. Pfenning was pronounded dead on the scene, according to the Wallowa County Chieftain.
