Ride in Peace: Kay Moneghan

Funeral services will be held Saturday in Massachusetts for Katherine E. "Lady Kay" Moneghan, dealership owner and the first female Harley-Davidson certified mechanic, who passed away this week at age 88.

Moneghan was the owner of Monty's Cycle Shop Harley-Davidson in West Bridgewater, a dealership she started with her late husband, Lawrence T. "Monty" Moneghan back in the late 1940s. Monty died in 1959.

“She opened doors for women. She owned a Harley-Davidson dealership when only men owned them,” said Lori McKinnon, who worked for Moneghan for nearly a decade, as reported in The Enterprise (http://www.enterprisenews.com).

Services will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Conley Funeral Home in Brockton and be followed by a funeral mass at 8:30 a.m. at St. Ann's Church in West Bridgewater. The funeral procession between Brockton and West Bridgewater will be escorted by members of two local motorcycle riding groups. Burial is at Pine Hill Cemetery in West Bridgewater.

Donations in Moneghan's memory may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 101-A First Ave., Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451.For more information, visit www.conleyfuneralhome.com.
