FORT ATKINSON. Wis. – The industry is mourning the loss of John Frederick Dorsey, who died April 22 at the Northwestern Hospitals in Chicago after a long battle with leukemia. He was 51.
Dorsey started his career as the sales manager for Don and Roy's Cycle Center in Brookfield, Wis., and then worked as manager for Gohr Power Sports in Waukesha, Wis. He later took a position as midwest regional sales manager for Triumph Motorcycles. After Triumph, he went to work as Midwest regional sales manager for Ducati Motorcycles. He later worked for Hyosung Motors as eastern sales manager, and was Midwest sales manager for Zero Motorcycles at the time of his death. In his off time, he enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time "up north.”
Dorsey was born in Elkhorn, Wis., June 18, 1962. He graduated from Delavan/Darien High School in 1980, and received a bachelor's degree in communications and marketing from UW-Green Bay in 1984. On July 17, 1999, John married Jean Ann Marshall.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Ann Dorsey; his mother, Jean Marie Dorsey; his siblings: Thomas (Barbara) Dorsey of Walworth, Linda (Robert) Goodfellow of Round Rock, Texas, and Patrick Dorsey of Nashville, Tenn.; his father and mother-in-law, Richard and Virginia Marshall of Fort Atkinson, and a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Sue Marshall of Fort Atkinson. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at noon April 25 at the Nitardy Funeral Home chapel in Fort Atkinson. Burial will be in the Roselawn Memory Gardens, Delavan/Lake Geneva, Wis. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice.
