Ride in Peace: Vernice Buchanan

Vernice Buchanan, who helped her husband start a small wheel and frame repair shop that grew into one of the best-known motorcycle aftermarket brands, passed away on March 3. She was 82.

"Mom and Dad started Buchanan's Spoke & Rim in 1958 as a small wheel and frame repair shop. Over time they grew it into what it is today," son Kennie told Dealernews.com.

"Without any doubts, the reason our business succeeded was the dynamic created by our parents' relationship and recognition of the other's abilities," he added.

Vernice is survived by her husband, Jim, and their two sons Robert and Kennie. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. March 14 at Rose Hills, 3888 Workman Mill Rd., Whittier, Calif. For more information, call 562.699.0921.
