Ride in Peace: Walter Buntin of Hap Jones

ELK GROVE, Calif. -- Memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, for Walter Buntin, former president of Hap Jones, who died April 28. He was 70.

The service will be held at Southwinds Church in Tracy, Calif. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Buntin's name.

Buntin, a San Francisco native, began work at Hap Jones Distributing in 1960 while he was still a student at Polytechnic High School. During the next 29 years, he worked his way through the company and gradually became president of Hap Jones.

Buntin was a lifetime member of the American Motorcyclist Association and the Trailblazers.

Buntin is survived by the former Geraldine Castrillo, his wife of 50 years; two sons, Craig (Lori) and Scott; a daughter, Debbie (Craig) Braida, nine granchildren, two brothers, Don (Loretta) Schnoor and Gary, and two sisters, Claudia Herman and Charlene (Bob) Bradley.
