Los Gatos, Calif. – Here’s a clever idea: Forget about using a messy oil to treat foam-style air filters. Instead, create a water-soluble solution that can be applied to dirt-style air filters so easily that reapplying it is simply part of cleaning.

UK firm Rock Oil seems to have done exactly that.

Rock Oil’s Factory Eco Foam is a non-mineral-based foam that is worked into a clean air filter like any other air filter oil, and allowed to set. After use, the filter is cleaned with mild soap and water, then recoated with another treatment, making it ready for the next moto.

Not only does this eliminate the need for additional air filter cleaning products, the resulting washing run-off is environmentally safe and easily washed down the drain, the company said.

Rock Oil Factory Eco Foam retails for $12.95 per can, and is just one product in a complete range of oils, lubricants and cleaners available for Rock Oil.
