Business owners in Bay City, Michigan are branching out in this year’s tight economy.
Ron Gohm, who owns Gohm & Son Roofing & Home Improvements, is starting 2010 with the grand opening of Area 51 Cycle and Performance. Gohm believes giving people quality service for less will help his new business.
The 42-year-old told MLive he will keep a small inventory at the shop and charge about $20 less per hour for motorcycle repairs and maintenance than his competitors.
“Keep the inventory down, keep costs down, that’s the best way of saving customers in the long run,” Gohm said.
In the short term, Gohm said, he hopes the business increases its $20-per-month heated winter storage. In the long run, he hopes to expand into serving snowmobiles and to open a showroom at the business.
