Bruce Rossmeyer's Pompano Harley-Davidson closed its doors Monday, another casualty of the sour economy.
The Rossmeyer family has dealerships in Fort Lauderdale, New Smyrna and Sunrise, two in Daytona Beach, plus stores in Massachusetts, Colorado, Tennessee and Mississippi. Some of the Pompano employees will get jobs at the other dealerships.
The Pompano dealership had been on the market in recent months, Shelly Rossmeyer Pepe told the Orlando Sentinel.
Pepe said the family's long-term strategy is to consolidate the business and focus more on the Daytona dealerships and stores.
"It's not a secret that my father started here, and at the end of the road, knew that his core business would end up here," she says.
