September swan song: Advanstar to shut down 2Wheel Tuner magazine

Advanstar Communications is ceasing publication of its consumer custom sportbike magazine, 2Wheel Tuner.

The September 2010 issue will be the final print edition of the magazine. The issue will be on-sale in early August.

Advanstar's Irvine, Calif.-based Powersports Group, which acquired the magazine in 2007, said it plans to serve the thousands of custom sportbike enthusiasts across the United States through its community website,

"We realized we needed to find a better way to give instant response and timely content to our readers in daily doses around their schedules. So we’ve made a tough decision to close a chapter on 2Wheel Tuner, the magazine that blazed the scene back in 2004, and fully embrace the ever-changing digital world through our rapidly growing community site," So read a company statement distributed through an subscription-based e-newsletter this week.

"No need to hang your head, there’s a new world out there and it changes every second- something a monthly print magazine can’t ever keep up with. Now will be the tool to connect with fresh bikes, products, videos, news, events, girls, contests and fellow members of the sportbike brother and sisterhood."

Advanstar Communications is the parent company of Dealernews and Dealer Expo.
