COLUMBUS, Ohio - An Ohio House panel is scheduled to vote Jan. 21 on legislation that would let drivers of small motorbikes and scooters park on sidewalks.

Senate Bill 194 would let scooter and moped owners walk, not drive, their vehicles onto the sidewalk to park them. They would have to be parked in a way that does not impede pedestrian traffic.

The bill passed the state Senate unanimously Nov. 6.

State Sen. Bill Seitz proposed the bill because his law partner had trouble finding scooter parking in downtown areas.

The House Transportation, Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee is scheduled to vote on the measure Tuesday afternoon.
