South Dakota is home to arguably the best known motorcycle rally in the world; now it’s also home to a new website aimed at riding safety.

The state unveiled SouthDakotaRides.com Friday. The new site lets potential visitors take a virtual spin through some of the most popular motorcycling routes in western South Dakota with helmetcam video footage designed to show the challenges of various rides.

“Hopefully, if they're really experienced, they can handle the difficult roads and if not, they should stay away from there and that's what this Website does," Dept. of Public Safety Secretary Trevor Jones told KELO.

The website includes a directory of motorcycle safety classes, and will eventually be upgraded to provide virtual rides along roads in eastern South Dakota, as well as rides in the Sturgis area.
