A proposal in South Dakota would change ATV licensing to remove them from the motorcycle classification and treat them more like snowmobiles, which would force them off of public roadways.
The state senate is expected to vote Wednesday on Senate Bill 175. Under the plan, money raised from ATV license fees would be shifted to building off-road trail systems, from the current use of funding roads and motorcycle safety courses, according to KOTA-TV.
Opponents say the bill would put too many restrictions on ATV users and cut into tourism revenue.
