BREA, Calif. - Suzuki’s RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 motocross bikes will return for 2014 with updated ECM ignition programs that improve starting, as well as with race-inspired Champion yellow-and-black graphics.
“By delivering these refinements for 2014, the Suzuki RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 will continue to lead their classes,” said Derek Schoeberle, Suzuki’s product media relations manager.
Suzuki expects the models to arrive at dealerships in July. The company has not yet announced MSRPs.
In a press release Suzuki noted the RM-Z models’ growing popularity among professional and amateur racers, claiming that the RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 have increased their share of race entries each of the last four years. The company said it will soon announce its race-support offerings for the coming season. Suzuki claims to offer more contingency-reward money than any other manufacturer.
Suzuki also noted recent accolades in the consumer press. Cycle World acknowledged the RM-Z450 as Best Motocrosser in 2011 and 2012. In 2013, Transworld MX chose both the RM-Z450 and RM-Z250 as its bikes of the year. And RacerX selected the RM-Z450 as the class-leader.
The RM-Z models are Suzuki’s second announcement of 2014 models after the company announced new Boulevard BOSS cruisers in May.
