Suzuki Drops Out of WRC

Suzuki Motor Corp. is the second major Japanese manufacturer this month to reduce its racing activities, today announcing it would suspend its activities in the FIA World Rally Championship.

Honda on Dec. 12 announced its decision to drop out of AMA road racing, following its Dec. 5 decision to end its Formula One activities.

"In responding to the contraction of the automotive sales caused by recent global economic turmoil, Suzuki has been promptly taking possible countermeasures including the reassessment of its global production output," the company stated.

Suzuki took part in the 2008 WRC season with two SX4s.
