Industry veteran Rod Lopusnak has joined Tucker Rocky Distributing as VP of business development.
Lopusnak earlier this month resigned his position as ATV operations manager of Suzuki's ATV division, American Suzuki Motor Corp. (ASMC). He tells Dealernews he felt it simply time to try something else within the industry.
"I had an incredible time at Suzuki both on the motorcycle and ATV side of things," he says. "The time came for me to go in a new direction with my career, and TR was the perfect fit. When I looked at it, TR was an easy choice — they have a great management team, incredible sales force, they offer the best products in the industry and their business focus is on the dealer, which I agree with 100 percent as that is where I got my start in this industry."
Lopusnak's new position has him involved in many areas, but he says his initial focus will be on some of TR's brands "and how we can expand and improve them for our dealers."
"I am known for the ATV side of the business, but at Suzuki I was the marketing manager for both motorcycle and ATV for many years, and spearheaded the launch of the Boulevard Brand as well as many of the best selling Suzuki sportbikes. In that position I was involved in every selling segment — for example, with Boulevard we spent countless hours on understanding both the needs of the dealers and the actual customer. It's this type of experience that will pay dividends here at TR."
Lopusnak spent four years with ASMC as motorcycle/ATV marketing manager, before leaving Suzuki to join the American Motorcyclist Association as director of sales for an eight-month period. He returned to Suzuki as ATV operations manager in January 2006. He was stationed at the Suzuki Manufacturing of America Corp. (SMAC) facility in Rome, Ga. He and his family plan to relocate from Georgia to the Fort Worth area.
