Doni Langdon likes your work, but her magazine is all about women showing off the machines they built and repaired for themselves.
So don’t go looking for cheesecake here. The 27-year-old creator of Throttle Gals wants you to forget about bikinis and pay attention to her models skills – and their rides.
"These are real women," she told the Daily Tribune of Oakland County, Mich. "Everyone you see is with her vehicle — not a model and not someone on her husband's or her boyfriend's ride. It's her pride and joy."
The first cover model is Athena "Chickee" Ransom, owner of Vagabond Choppers in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Articles include maintenance how-tos, builder and rider features and more.
Langdon created the magazine after she was laid off from a publisher targeting a male audience – one who dismissed the female market.
"I wanted my former boss to do it, but he thought it was a stupid idea," she told the newspaper. "Then I got let go so they could give my job to an intern. I felt like ‘I'm done being kicked down in a man's world.’ So I did the magazine to help empower other women.“
