BRISTOL, Va. – Opening day of the Thundering Beauties Biker Rally is bringing women from at least nine states to Southwest Virginia.

These Dragon Ladies will ride the famous 32-mile Back of the Dragon along Rt. 16, as well as the Claw of the Dragon, which features trail loops that offer more than 350 miles for riders.

The rally is good news for local hospitality and retail businesses, organizer Charolette Ammons told the Bristol News.

Ron Thomason, Smyth County’s tourism director, has attended international motorcycle shows in Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and Charlotte to promote local opportunities. “There’s no doubt we’ll see additional motorcycles come here,” he said.

The rally runs July 24 to 27.
