Rocky Timms of Timms Harley-Davidson in Anderson, S.C. will face the town’s zoning board this afternoon to defend the bike nights he’s been holding since early May.
A vocal group of residents who live on and near Old Mill Road near the dealership say owner Rocky Timms has been misusing a picnic shelter for the events, which they say are too noisy, crowded and leave trash in their wake.
Timms previously sought a “special exception to the dealership’s commercial zoning permit from the Anderson County Citizens Advisory Committee, according to the Independent Mail. The panel voted unanimously to deny Timms’ request.
“We are trying to follow all the rules,” he says. “What we have is an event you can take your family to. My 5-month-old daughter is out there.”
Planning director Bill West saysTimms may have to seek rezoning to support outdoor commercial recreation.
