TOP 100 COMPETITION: Entry process opens Monday, June 7

The annual running of the dealers gets underway Monday, June 7, when the entry process for the Top 100 Dealer competition for 2011 opens at 12:01 a.m.

Dealerships across North America will compete -- for free -- for a coveted Top 100 spot by completing and submitting a nomination form by Oct. 1. The nomination form may be accessed at

This year's competition is different -- easier and more streamlined. Competitors will submit their nomination forms and ancillary materials online, through a partnership Dealernews has with mBlast. Nominees will be asked to create an account with mBlast before being given access to the nomination form.

The electronic process will enable dealers to create accounts immediately and then work on their Top 100 entries all summer long. Their entry information will remain confidential until they actually submit the form.

In addition, this year entrants/nominees will be able to choose the Merit Award categories which they wish to enter. Judges will choose Merit Award finalists and winners from the list of dealers who have entered those particular award categories.

Dealers submitting completed entries by the Oct. 1 deadline will be entered into a Consumers' Choice competition, sponsored by the International Motorcycle Shows (sister property to Dealernews). Consumers across North America will have a chance to vote for their favorite dealership -- from the list of Top 100 entrants -- throughout October. (Only the names and cities of the dealerships will be visible to consumers; not the entries themselves.)

Finalists for the Top 100 will be announced in the fall, and winners will be revealed in December. The Merit Award winners and the coveted Dealer of the Year won't be revealed until the Top 100 20th Anniversary Awards Gala to be held next February at Dealer Expo in Indianapolis.
