Triumph to Recall Sprint ST 1050

The government has reported that Triumph has scheduled an October recall of certain 2005-2009 Sprint ST 1050 models manufactured from Nov. 4, 2004, through September 2009. The rear suspension drag link assembly in these units can fracture due to corrosion. If the assembly does break, part of the suspension will drop, causing the rear tire mudguard to contact the rear tire. The potential number of units affected is 2,849. The NHTSA campaign ID number is 09V378000. Triumph’s recall number is SB 403.

In other recall news, Florida-based Panther Motors Inc. is recalling certain 2008-2009 P150 and P50 scooter trikes. The units don’t comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 122, “Motorcycle Brake Systems.” The standard requires a strictly mechanical form of engagement of a motorcycle parking brake, but the parking brake on these units relies in part on hydraulic pressure. Panther has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. The potential number of units affected is 434. The NHTSA campaign ID number is 09V379000.
