Triumph recalls Tiger Explorer to replace payload label

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Triumph is recalling certain 2012 and 2013 Tiger Explorer and Explorer XC motorcycles due to a labeling mistake.

The gross vehicle weight rating data on the certification label is incorrect. The label indicates a payload of 222 kg (about 489 lbs.). The actual payload is 212 kilograms (about 467 lbs.).

The mislabeling could allow the operator to overload the motorcycle, which could result in handling issues or tire failure.

The recall (No. 13V180000) potentially affects 1,186 units.

Triumph will notify owners and replace the labels with corrected GVWR data, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners are asked to contact Triumph at 678-854-2010 for more information.
