FORT WORTH, Texas - Firstgear is at Tucker Rocky's annual dealer show this weekend with nine new jackets: five for men and four for women. In addition, the brand returns with a vengeance to the riding footwear category with five new styles.

The company is also taking a fresh look at how it communicates with dealers and consumers.

“We’re doing something a little different,” said Greayer Clover, who in April became Firstgear’s brand manager. “We are creating a catalog app that our sales reps will use via their iPads. As well, we are printing a mini ‘flip book’ catalog that we can give to dealers that will feature all of — and only — our brand-new products.”

Clover said that over the next several weeks, Firstgear will be uploading all its informational videos onto the catalog app.

“A consumer-friendly version of this digital/print catalog will be the foundation of our new website, which flips on after the sales meeting/dealer event,” he said.

One of the five new men’s Firstgear jackets is the 2013 Jaunt (pictured above) retailing for $199.95. It features a UV-resistant polyester outer shell, CE-approved armor at the shoulders and elbows, a waterproof yet breathable Drop-Z liner, a hold-open venting system, high-wicking poly-mesh lining, a large drop tail, a rear pocket and front cargoes, and a one-hand-adjustable exterior waist belt.

One of the four new women’s jackets is the 2013 Contour retailing for $169.95. It features a polyester mesh outer shell that allows complete airflow. High-wicking nylon-mesh lining distributes internal moisture and dries quickly. The jacket’s contour shape is tailored specifically to the female form. Other features include a removable waterproof liner, one-hand-adjustable waist belts, zipper-secured side pockets, and CE-approved armor at the shoulders.

One of the five new footwear items is the Kathmandu boot retailing for $169.95. Firstgear calls it “the quintessential all-weather, go-anywhere, anytime, any-condition boot.” It features a full-leather upper, waterproof yet breathable Hipora lining, a fully adjustable, dual-cam-buckle strap system, an accordion leather fore-arch and Achilles heel, hard toe-box and shin-plate protection, and a lugged rubber sole.
