Tucker Rocky's Indy Look Elevates House Brands

Take one look tomorrow at Tucker Rocky Distributing’s exhibit starting in the 100 aisle, and you’ll know there are changes in the works from the national distributor. The booths are be less cluttered and will feature the distributor’s house brand products such as Bike Master and Firstgear. Several other important new brands, such as Ogio and Scorpion, will be located nearby in booths operated by the manufacturers.


This approach is expected to provide several benefits for dealers, says Steve Johnson, Tucker Rocky president and COO. “In the past, we had one of everything, and we looked like a retail store, probably a poor retail store,” he says. “We don’t need to show products like Dunlop and Yoshimura; dealers know we have those products, and the manufacturers have booths down the aisle. We’ll show our brands, and we will let manufacturers display and explain their products in their booths, rather than be a distant second for them.”

The key brands distributed by TR will still be represented, but without major displays. “We’ll still have a focus on other brands,” Johnson says. “But we just won’t devote as much space to them. We’ll have a major focus on our brands. At the end of the day, we were buying a huge amount of space, cluttering it up, and not selling any more products because we showed them there. Our booth this year will be slightly smaller, but our key manufacturers all will be located near us.”

Some of the products that are new to Tucker Rocky, or that will receive special marketing emphasis from the distributor this year, include:

• Ogio -- This leading bag maker is new to Tucker Rocky.

• Bike Master Trugel – This new battery reportedly holds a charge for nearly a year. Its very long shelf life adds special convenience for dealers and consumers, and it seems to be competitively priced.

• Scorpion Helmets

• Firstgear

Tucker Rocky is in Booths 100, 101, 101A and 108 on the first floor.
