BREA, Calif. – Suzuki dealers reported sales gains in April in the standard and touring motorcycle categories as well as the utility ATV category, the OEM reported.

"This mirrors year-long activity seen worldwide by Suzuki Motor Corporation, SMAI’s parent company in Japan, which reported a 15.8 percent increase in net sales year-over-year, as well as operating income that turned into the black for the first time in six fiscal years, mainly owing to improvement in income of large displacement motorcycles, Suzuki said.

Availability of the 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS and the 2014 Suzuki Burgman 200 ABS is "encouraging riders of varied interests to visit Suzuki dealers and get out on the road.

“With new models like the V-Strom 1000 ABS, Burgman 200 ABS and GW250 placed in Suzuki dealerships next to long-proven Suzuki models like the GSX-R sportbikes, KingQuad ATVs and more, interested customers have great options available through Suzuki dealers,” said Rod Lopusnak, general manager of National Sales for Suzuki Motor America Inc. (SMAI). “From longtime riders to first-time riders, for both the street and off-road, Suzuki dealers have two-wheel and four-wheel vehicles available, with a range of attractive purchase options, too.”

Suzuki said it is benefiting from strong race results this spring. "Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s newest team member, Roger Hayden, raced his Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 to two second-place finishes at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla., in March. Martin Cardenas raced his Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R1000 to victory at the opening round of the Superbike Shootout race series, held at Auto Club Speedway, Fontana, Calif., April 27.

"Before that event, Cardenas and his Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing teammates held a test session following the MotoGP race at The Circuit Of The Americas in Austin, Texas, sharing the track with the 2015 Suzuki MotoGP race bike. Suzuki used this event as its sole stateside test of the new MotoGP bike, and to showcase GSX-R technology in front of select Suzuki dealers and journalists invited to watch this exclusive test session.

"Suzuki ended the 2014 Supercross season with a total of five victories in the 450SX class, thanks to the persistent performance of Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s James Stewart who proved that the Suzuki RM-Z450 is a leader in AMA Supercross.

"Suzuki begins the AMA Outdoor Motocross season with Stewart eager to expand that victory total. The factory-backed RCH Racing team adds two new team members, with Ivan Tedesco and Weston Peick both looking to fill event podiums beginning with the season opener at Glen Helen Raceway in Southern California, May 24.
