A former Wisconsin restaurant will be serving up Harleys in a few months, once the new owners -- Dealernews Top 100 dealers Vandervest Harley-Davidson -- renovate the building to open their third dealership.
Father and son Rick and Erik Vandervest bought the 4.75-acre site of the Black Forest restaurant in Howard for their new store. They already own Vandervest Custom Cycles, a used motorcycle dealership, and Vandervest Harley-Davidson in Peshtigo.
Vandervest told the Green Bay Press Gazette the first floor of the building will be retail and service areas; a banquet hall on the second floor may stay, and a patio in the rear of the building will remain.
Vandervest said highway visibility was a key to the site choice. "The value of Highway 41 is priceless,” he says. “I think it's going to be a great spot for a dealership.” The restaurant will remain open for event commitments through October, then the Vandervests will take over. A soft opening for the dealership is scheduled for spring and a grand opening when the riding season begins.
