FLINT TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The next phase of a dealership expansion at Vehicle City Harley-Davidson is on track, as the dealer on June 16 won approval for a tavern liquor license for its renovated diner.

The Flint Township Board of Trustees gave the thumbs-up Monday for liquor at the Vehicle City Classic Diner. The license will allow the serving of beer and liquor at the diner, which arrived at the dealership in May 2013 and has been undergoing restoration since.

"We should know in a few weeks on the time for a soft opening," general manager Karrie McLean told the Flint Journal.

Trustees voted 6-1 to approve the liquor license, which still needs state support.

The dealership last year announced plans for the 1950s-style diner, as part of additions that include a new driveway, signs, concert stage with grass seating, and demo track.
