Vespa USA launches Facebook promo campaign

Vespa USA’s most recent marketing effort involves its helmets moonlighting as fruit bowls, among other things.

“Vespa Helmets are for Everything” is a two-pronged campaign aimed at getting riders into safety gear. Fans of Vespa’s Facebook page are encouraged to think of imaginative ways to use Vespa helmets when they’re not being used for riding (see fruit bowl example at left). Fans can upload photos of their ideas onto Vespa’s Facebook page, the central hub of the campaign, and every week, a winner will be chosen to receive a free helmet and other Vespa-branded goodies. Their photos also will be turned into “trading cards.” Caveat: Helmets should not be "misused or mistreated in a manner that may cause damage to the helmet and render it useless when riding,” the company warns in its contest rules.

Vespa will also offer a free DOT-approved Vespa helmet to customers who purchase a Piaggio or Vespa scooter (a new 2008 to 2011 model) from now until April 30. Visit www.facebook.com/VespaUSA for more information.
