Violence mars charity event at New Mexico motorcycle repair shop

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Police are investigating a shooting outside of a motorcycle repair shop that happened during a fundraising event Aug. 4, leaving one man dead and another hospitalized.

Witnesses told KOAT-TV the fundraiser at Eppies Motorcycle Shop was being held by the family of a 14-year-old girl who has a rare blood disease. One of her family members was reportedly a member of the Black Berets Motorcycle Club. Another club member told the station the shooters were members of the Vagos club.

"They rolled up into here. Started shooting up at the place. Started shooting at my brothers. No questions asked. Just started shooting for no reason at all," he said.

Another witness said, "more than 50 shots were fired. We were ducking. All of us. It was crazy. It was weird how it happened so suddenly." Shots were reportedly still being fired when police officers arrived.

Police confirmed that two people were rushed to University of New Mexico Hospital with injuries. One man later died.

Crime scene investigators discovered more than 70 spent bullet casings at the scene.
