U4.4 is the latest generation of VP Racing Fuels’ U4-based fuels. Designed for stock and modified two- and four-stroke applications, it is said to offer more power across a wider range of applications, better throttle response and less heat sensitivity than its predecessor, U4.2.
“With horsepower gains up to 6 percent compared to premium pump gas, U4.4 is comparable to VP’s best AMA Pro level race fuels for less than half the cost — a relatively inexpensive way to generate additional power,” Steve Burns, VP’s president and director of R&D, stated in a press release.
U4.4 is a direct pour-in replacement for pump gas. "It will require a modest jetting change — up to two main jets and two pilot jets at most, so customers can essentially 'pour in the power' and be on their way,” Burns said.
"Historically, generating maximum power from a motorcycle fuel required trade-offs in other areas — for example, residue buildup in the carburetor, vapor lock or other issues,” Burns said. "With the new technology in U4.4, there are no trade-offs. It causes no residue buildup, will be more resistant to heat and will yield the most cost-effective power gains of any performance part on the market.
"U4.4 is ideal for engines with 10:1 to 13.5:1 compression,” he continued, "and with its Motor Octane of 103 and oxygenation, it provides excellent detonation protection."
VP says U4.4 passes AMA Pro/Am fuel rules. VP Racing Fuels swept all AMA Pro Racing Championships in Superbike, Supercross, Motocross and Supermoto for five consecutive years through 2008. The 35-year-old company is the official spec fuel and/or contingency sponsor of AMA Dragbike, AMA Flat Track, AMA Motocross, AMA Supercross, NHRA and ADRL among more than 50 VP-sponsored sanctioning bodies.
