OLYMPIA, Wash. - A state agency has awarded more than $50,000 in grants to groom snowmobile trails in western Yakima County and adjacent counties.

The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Funding Board  awarded the grant to groom 402 miles of snowmobile trails in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Ahtanum State Forest and the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.

The trail-grooming grant for forested areas in Yakima, Kittitas and King counties is funded by gas taxes, according to the Yakima Herald-Republic.
