FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The last of Bruce Rossmeyer’s Harley-Davidson stores in Broward County has been sold to an Arizona-based dealer conglomerate.
Chester Group closed March 8 on the purchase of the 64,000 sq. ft. Sunrise site. It plans a concert Saturday night at the store, renamed Chester's Fort Lauderdale Harley-Davidson, executives told the Sun-Sentinel.
The Rossmeyer chain closed its Fort Lauderdale shop last December and sold its Pompano Beach store in 2010.
Company president Sandra Rossmeyer gave a statement saying her late husband Bruce "was in the process of selling the South Florida dealerships when he passed away in July 2009. As such, the sale is a continuation of Bruce's overall plan" to focus on his dealerships in the greater Daytona area.
Chester Group already has Harley-Davidson dealerships in five cities: Mesa, Ariz.; Twin Falls, Idaho Falls and Pocatello in Idaho; and Reno, Nev. It also has PG&A stores in Reno and in Jackson, Wyo.
