LIVERMORE, Calif. - The new HD Grit, part of the Harley-Davidson Performance Eyewear line from Wiley X Inc., is packed with vision-enhancing features that eliminate glare and reduce the halo effects caused by some polarized lenses, the company reports.

The Grit has a sleek design and provides a snug fit. Special rubberized nose pads and temple grips add to wearing comfort and keep the glasses in place during long rides on hot, bumpy roads.

The Grit features wraparound styling and has the standard Wiley X ANSI Z87.1 High Velocity and High Mass Impact Safety rating, providing riders with clear, unobstructed views of road surface/contour, digital gauges and rapidly changing surroundings, plus protection against a range of highway hazards.

The HD Grit incorporates Wiley X's exclusive Partial Polarized (PPZ) lenses, based on the company's shatterproof Selenite polycarbonate construction and proven eight-layer Filter 8 polarizing technology. With 14 percent light transmission and 70 percent polarization, the lens "provides the glare-cutting advantages of Wiley X polarization while maintaining the distortion-free vision daytime riders need. These breakthrough PPZ lenses provide crystal clear viewing of digital gauges, which often have their own UV coating. This same technology provides riders with a high-definition view of the riding surface at all angles -- even when looking through a bike's windshield. These advanced lenses feature an additional frontal layer of Silver Flash, Multi-Coat Z-Oxide Mirror over the Smoke tint, further absorbing environmental glare and providing clear, unobstructed vision," the company stated.

"We looked at the conditions and environments in which riders enjoy their passion - a constantly changing surface, passing from bright sun to shade and back again, and constant glare from nearby cars, buildings and objects.  We took all these things into consideration and using our vision expertise, we set out to develop the ultimate lens for daytime riding," said Wiley X Co-Owner Myles Freeman Jr. "New PPZ lens technology eliminates glare without the distortion or halo effects caused by some polarized lenses in a riding environment.  The result is a crystal-clear view of the road and your surroundings that's like watching High Definition TV," Freeman added.
