A Bancroft, Wisc., man has shut down a section of a snowmobile trail that runs through his property as a tax protest.
Dennis Sikorski told WAOW Wisconsin his taxes are higher than his neighbors because his property is zoned for forestry while neighbors are zoned agricultural. Sikorski says he pays $35.25 more per parcel than some of his neighbors.
"I just closed the trail down ‘cause I thought this was a step forward and maybe if other people would help get on the bandwagon maybe we could get legislation to change these property taxes," he told the station. “I don't have a problem with agricultural farmers or snowmobiles, absolutely nobody but all I want is fair taxes."
