BOISE, Idaho - K&L Supply introduces a whole passel of new service equipment to the Western Power Sports catalog, chief among them is the new Strongarm II tire mounting system and the the 1,000 lb. capacity MC615 Air Lift.
The company's R&D supervisor Joseph Lopez says that the products are part of K&L's commitment to help dealers offer speedy, efficient and safe work in their service departments.
The Strongarm II is a pneumatically powered device that can help techs removing and replacing the new generation tires that have extra stiff sidewalls. Rather than the tech manhandling the tire once the bead is broken, the Strongarm II holds the bead down at drop center of the wheel, even while the turntable is rotating.
The setup retails for $500 and is designed to work with most popular tire-changing machines. According to company president and CEO, Joseph Lee, the Strongarm II is endorsed by Honda and Yamaha.
For demonstration purposes during the WPS show, the device was installed on K&L's MC680 Economy Tire Changer, which the company says is perfect for startups and low-volume shops and is specifically designed for motorcycle tire changing.
The MC615R Air Lift features a 1,000 lb. capacity, a rear drop panel, automatic safety locks, loading ramp, one-year warranty and a maximum raised height of 35 inches and a lowered height of 7.25 inches.
According to Lopez, it can be raised in nine seconds and lowered in about 15 seconds. The lift is configured so that a tech can change both front and rear tires with having to unload and reposition the bike.
The lift is drop-shipped from K&L's Santa Clara, Calif. facilities so it will usually arrive within a day of the company receiving an order from a WPS rep. For dealers local the K&L, the items can also be picked up at will call.
