INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Steve Johnson of Tucker Rocky and Craig Shoemaker of WPS will participate in an unprecedented panel discussion on the future of aftermarket sales at the 2013 Dealer Expo.
Shoemaker, president of Western Power Sports, and Johnson, who just retired after being president and COO of Tucker Rocky and Biker's Choice for many years, will be joined on the stage by Adam Redford, sales and marketing manager at Twisted Throttle, and dealer principal Jared Burt of Rexburg Motorsports, a repeat Top 100 winner. Rounding out the panel is Bob Weber, a longtime industry veteran now with 6D Helmets.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Eric Anderson.

The keynote SuperSession – Rebuilding Retail: The State of the Dealer 2013, The Future of Aftermarket Sales – will be held at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Indiana Convention Center. The event is free to registered attendees of Dealer Expo.
The Aftermarket Sales panel will discuss the new priorities for PG&A suppliers and distributors in the 2013 economy, and the evolution of the dealer’s business model. The session also will explore the partnership between retailer and wholesaler, signs that a dealer’s relationship with a manufacturer or distributor may be weakening (and what to do about it), and what tactics dealers – of all sizes – must now implement to remain effective and relevant in their markets.
“The resurgence in the number of new products and the efforts being put into new designs for parts, accessories and apparel converge into a retail opportunity not seen in several years,” said Mary Slepicka, content director for Dealernews, which is producing the Super Session. “At the same time, aftermarket designers and manufacturers are updating their business models to go after the growth markets.
“The question now is, what must retailers do? To capitalize on the growth that's expected in the aftermarket, many dealers will need to re-evaluate their business strategies. How they worked with their suppliers and distributors five or ten years ago may not be applicable today,” Slepicka said.
The Saturday aftermarket Super Session is part of the Dealernews Learning Experience at Dealer Expo, which comprises more than 20 certification-based business seminars produced by Dealership University, a Friday morning Service Department Workshop hosted by Dave Koshollek, and two Super Session panel discussions. The Feb. 15 Super Session will focus on OEM-dealer relations.
