FOR THE 19th year, WyoTech’s Daytona Beach, Florida, campus is participating in Daytona’s Bike Week. The event takes place Feb. 27 through March 8.
In addition to the campus’ annual Brute Horsepower Shootout, WyoTech will offer free seminars for motorcycle enthusiasts. WyoTech-sponsored NHRA Pro-Stock motorcycle racer, Steve Johnson, and his crew will also be on hand.
Located in Ormond Beach, Florida, the WyoTech campus has hosted Bike Week’s annual Brute Horsepower Shootout for nearly twenty years. The shootout takes place on the school’s DynoJet® dynamometers, where participants compete for the highest horsepower numbers. Competition classes include every kind of bike – from small single-cylinder bikes to turbocharged and nitrous-injected bikes. Cash and prizes are awarded, however bragging rights are the real prize in this competition. Open and free to the public, this Bike Week tradition starts on March 2.
For the first time, WyoTech will also offer free seminars for motorcycle enthusiasts. Covering basic motorcycle maintenance and roadside emergency troubleshooting, the seminars will be taught by WyoTech’s faculty members in the school’s state-of-the-art 100,000-square-foot shop and classroom facility. Safety glasses and a t-shirt will be a gift to all participants. Open to the public, the two-hour seminars will be held at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm from Tuesday, March 3, through Thursday, March 5.
And finally, for the racing enthusiasts, WyoTech-sponsored NHRA Pro-Stock Motorcycle racer, Steve Johnson, will be on hand Wednesday, March 4, through Friday, March 6. Everyone will have the opportunity to sit on Johnson’s replica drag bike and test their reaction time in a simulated drag race.
