WASHINGTON, D.C. - Yamaha is recalling all 2009 Zuma 125 (YW125Y) scooters due to possible improper clearances in the internal fuel pump components.

The improper clearances may cause an inadequate supply of fuel that could lead to engine stalling, increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall potentially affects 8,700 units.

Yamaha will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump with a newly designed one.

The recall (No. 13V035000) is expected to begin Feb. 19.
